What are the steps to the inter-district Process to attend a school in the Adelanto Elementary School District?

Step 1: Students must be released from their home district before enrolling in AESD. Please contact your home district to determine their timeline to sign inter-district transfer release forms.  It varies greatly from district to district. You should also concurrently request the most recent transcripts, report cards and include behaviors and attendance records.

Step 2:   Please submit your signed transfer release from your home district and supporting documents to the AESD Central Enrollment Office. Once all of your records for the release are provided, we can process your interdistrict application, but can’t confirm space or placement until the release is approved by AESD. Please note, that once your interdistrict application is approved, you will still need to complete an enrollment application as outlined in Step 4.

Step 3: If approved, the interdistrict release document will be signed as approved by AESD and returned to the family. If denied, the interdistrict release document will be signed as denied by AESD and returned to the family.

Step 4: Approved families can then begin their enrollment on the school registration page.  Once the enrollment process is complete be sure to schedule your appointment to bring in all your documentation to the Enrollment Office.

Other Information

  • Families complete applications throughout the current school year for the following school year. It is very important to complete the application as soon as possible to better ensure placement at an AESD school. Applications received after May 1st may not be placed until after the 10th day of school.

  • The Superintendent or designee may approve or deny initial requests for interdistrict attendance permits due to limited district resources, overcrowding of school facilities at the relevant grade level.  Other considerations for denial may include; continued disciplinary problems, failure to comply with school rules/policies, academic performance, continued unexcused absences/tardiness, and fraudulent interdistrict applications.

  • Failure of a parent/guardian to meet any timelines established by the district shall be deemed an abandonment of the request.

  • Considerations for revoking AESD interdistrict transfers include; continued disciplinary problems, failure to comply with school rules/policies, academic performance, continued unexcused absences/tardiness, and fraudulent interdistrict applications.

  • Can an interdistrict transfer be revoked? Yes, an interdistrict transfer permit may be revoked. The parent/guardian acknowledges this during the completion of an interdistrict application.
